I understand it'll free up alot of space because of the sprites, the video probly didn't do it justice enough. the rotations on the camera would probly turn more people away then bring them in, it' like being in a roller-coaster *laughs* ;)

I will be more for this update because of the fact in that it free's up space.
I hope this doesn't conflict with Shiny sprites > and that we can still see the old basic sprite when we view the Pokemon's Charactor information interface.

pokemon battle revolution was terrible u arent missing anything
While the game itself wasn't much of a game and was a vast disappointment after Colosseum and XD Gale it did have a great battle system(minus that stupid announcer guy and i promise we won't do that......)

a) every overworld sprite has a corresponding shiny sprite that is used everytime a sprite is needed for a pokemon that is shiny(overworld, ride, surf, and now battle)
b) the animations for the pokemon contained about 100 seprate images, per side, per shiny/non altogether that is 350-500 separate images acrost the 4 different files. In the new version only the front and back(+/- a few others for other purposes) will be used(for shiny and non) when being viewed in the party, dex, and more.

Thats a Releif, I know that there's no problem with shiny sprites in the overworld currently though, I have a Pink Hypno currently following me around.

It''ll be great to impliment this though, since the moving sprites for shiny and none-shiny for over 600+ pokemon would of been so staggering to have in the game, the amount of space required seems unfathomable to me. this will solve that problem indeed. :D

I have a feeling we'll get alot more out of the game once the uneccersary clutter is removed once the new battle system is implimented. ( i'm sure you'd agree with me on that point)

what u dont like hearing OH ITS A CRITICAL!

but seriously though I agree the battle system was fine in that game I just hated the fact that they pretty much it was a step back from even the first stadium and had pretty much no content.

Completely agree
I wanted a Colosseum sequel :(

I kinda got used to the old battle system and the new one seems strange. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. The new system will allow a better view of the animations. There are a few things that i'd like to be fixed, added but i'd need a better view of the system (a longer video if possible).

Oh man, I love the animated sprites, they're a huge deal for me... Thankfully, everything is subject to change so they'll be coming back... Hopefully.

Also the new UI covers the screen a lot. It looks like a joystick mapping too. I'll try to make a suggestion for it by making one in photoshop.

to me, this seems like a step back in terms of presentation.

i mean, wouldent you expect something like overworld sprite battles to come from some unknown barely worked on fan game? or a PMD game?

is there a way we can keep the old one, please??

can we still turn off the animations??

From what I've seen in the presentation video, I'd rather keep the old battle system. The new one really seems like a step back in terms of playability.
There was mainly one issue with the first one, that a battle was a little slow, but that didn't bother me at all. I turned the attack animations off anyway, since I don't need them to play pokemon.
The old system gave you a tactical overview over the battle as you were watching over the shoulder of your partner and gave instructions like a trainer.
The new system seems to have terminated my strategical view and prefers to spin me right round, baby, right round...
The amount of camera movement reminds me of a first person shooter.
The old interface was inspired by the classical pokemon interface, which had a huge feel of nostalgia to it. The new interface isn't bad, but I would have prefered something more fitting for a PC game.
The most important point is the sprites. I like the detail of the animated battle sprites and I don't think the overworld sprites are a good replacement. Most of the detail is gone and most overworld sprites look goofy at best. The argument for the change was memory usage, but even if the sprites took 100 Mb I still wouldn't care at all, as my PC is able to handle that without any problems. 1 Gb? Still no problem for most systems. The only thing, that would increase significantly is the time required to download the game.

Im whether curious will they be only changing battle interface/camera or will they also change the mechanics or something

is there an option to use the original one? I liked the old sprites and all the camera movement kinda hurts to look at.
I kinda agree with this, it's a neat feature and all but I would very much like to keep it the way it is, maybe the rotating in battles with the old style but I dislike how long a battle would take in comparison to the old battles.

Edit: Not to mention how the overworld sprites look very meh compared to the actual sprites.
Agreed.

It seems pretty unanimous that most people don't like this new system in general and most would like an option to switch between the two. I agree that it looks rather corny compared to what we have now. (I understand going for the stadium battle look however for 2D sprites like others have said it doesn't look as appealing) I don't understand why space is such an issue here. (Edit note: And why am I still a bug catcher here? Is it a post count thing because in the game I am a hiker)
