Game Update Tracker #1 - Anniversary Update

It seems pretty unanimous that most people don't like this new system in general and most would like an option to switch between the two. I agree that it looks rather corny compared to what we have now. (I understand going for the stadium battle look however for 2D sprites like others have said it doesn't look as appealing) I don't understand why space is such an issue here. (Edit note: And why am I still a bug catcher here? Is it a post count thing because in the game I am a hiker)
. It depends on how many trophie points you have

In general if Pokemon 3D started off with using overworld sprites I don't believe that this would be as big as an issue as it is now to most people. I just looks kind hokey and something from a Gameboy game compared to now. (But hey retro is the new cool today. XD)

What I really want to see is someone make high res sprites for all the pokemon
Also all of the staff(afaik) seem to really like it ;)(aka the people who have used this system and seen it first hand)
I think that once you get to use it yourself then most fears/issues will dissipate
also both the UI and the sprites can be modified via content pack just like the music and the textures so I really want to see what people can do with the system

We will listen to your complaints/fears/etc but we wont do much with it til you have actually played with the system yourself(and given some time to adjust)
change is scary but it is also good(usually)

Microsoft was trying to become the steam of consoles(which is where gaming will slowly go.....)
issues
a) the stupid drm shit for disk games
b) presentation
i mean the idea of if you buy a game online only you can use it is what is going to happen eventually

I'm fine with waiting until it's out, just don't end up like Runescape.

(IE: Release things almost no one likes, and then refuse to change despite losing more than half of your customers or in this case supporters)

Edit: I think there should be a poll a week after the release of the new battle system so people can adapt to it and form their own opinions based on actual experience with the battle system so the staff can get a good idea of what if anything needs/can be done.

a Poll would indeed be amazing after we have had a week or even two weeks to adapt to it. and if playrs like what they see, they can express opinions and/or suggestions.

I like the new system, but also want the animated battle sprites :)
The changing camera angles are nice - will we have zoom in/out depending on the move used like its been shown to occur in X & Y?

Unanimous means everybody, that is not the case at all. Some of us are waiting to play the system for ourselves before making judgement.

Absolutely. we would like to give it a test run before Arceus *cough*, I mean nillz and the community calls judgement on it.

Copy-paste from my YouTube comment because I'm lazy xD:

Personally I think the battle system looks pretty neat. It's gonna take time to get used to it though, in case you decide to implement it permanently.
And I don't mind the lack of animated sprites. They probably took up a lot of space!
I also think we should be able to choose between the in-battle camera behavior showcased here and the original variation (from behind your Pokemon, you know, the typical from the original games).
But you can do whatever you feel like doing. I'll play it anyways :3

If the animated sprites took up room, how about releasing them as a addon/extra download like the mods? Then we can have them if we want and still get a smaller download for the main game :)

Did someone point out how much space the animated battle sprites are going to need eventually? If this is the main reason to remove them, I get curious how much space they are going to occupy. It has to be in the dimension of megabytes of data, which shouldn't be an issue for most PCs. Even office PCs or the historical computers, that collect dust in the cellar have at least 256mb RAM, so I can't see the problem, unless you are going for a mobile gaming platform and even those tend to have sufficient memory nowadays. New Samsung mobile phones are equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 1,4 GHz quad core processors, so they should technically be able to run Pokémon 3D, even with animated battle sprites. This just increases my curiousity. What would take more space, fully textured and animated 3D models for the pokemon, or all the animated battle sprites? Why is memory such a big issue for pokémon 3D? The animations folder takes about 50Mb. Even if there are many other pokemon to be added, its size won't suddenly outgrow the capacity of even older PCs. The only computer, that I am not sure, whether or not it could run Pokemon 3D is the calculator on my desk. That calculator could be modified to run pokemon Red and Blue.

The biggest thing is that they just don't work with the new camera system
which we(the staff) want you all to use EXCLUSIVELY
We do not like the current system because it does not match with the style of the rest of the game
We want to change it and give you something we think is quite frankly better by far
We want to share it with you and(for the most part) believe that you will come to love the new battle system just as much as we do
while size is not all that big an issue download speed is
the larger the download the more time(and server space) you are taking up
while this is not a huge issue, including a feature we don't particularly enjoy/want to keep instead of cutting the download size 20-30%(personal estimate maybe lower or higher.....) then we will do it
also remember that while your hard drive can definitely take it it is unusual for programs to get all THAT big
