I started when it first came out. I was totally hooked. I was around 8 years old and was really big in collecting anything and everything pokemon. I even stole pokemon cards at a local card shop. hehe

Pika's first Pokemon game was blue, Pika still has it to this day. Pika bought it from a garage sale, along with a gameboy for 50 cents. And Pika played it for 999.59 hours until Pika decided to leave Pallet town for the first time.

False.

A Game Boy game's internal battery has a max out limit of 256, and can never be reached. Therefore, the highest number possible on the Play Time on a Generation I and II game is 255:59.

Pika did things to make other things happen, so Pika breaks logic, and sits on Pika's butt maxing out the play time before doing anything significate.

I too started ar gen I with blue. A friend of mine started with red and even had one of those mysterious link cables. After completing my dex i started the yellow edition. Good that i had a complete blue edition an access to a link cable. God...i wasted my youth xD

technically speaking, I started with Sapphire.

But, if you mean when we first got into poke'mon, that would be gen II, when I played it at a friends house.
