Pika offered to help, but guess who passed Pika through Viridian Forest? Your friend that Pika doesn't even know.

Fairy just doesn't seem to fit in anywhere, what sort of type match ups could it have? Also, all other types have been elements or, for lack of a better word, abiotic. Ghost seems to have this same problem but has worked well.

But my previous still stands, psychic with a bow

You know, people have been spreading rumors of a new type since forever. I also don't see a reason to do any retyping, as you call it, since that would destabilize half the game. Imagine, you like training normal types, and suddenly one of your favorites is no-longer eligible for your party. Besides all this, Fairy wouldn't be viable anyway, as it's currently an egg type.

I just do not see Nintendo changing its tune after 17 years of using the same set of types.

*EDIT*
Okay, finished reading the article, and now I'm even more thoroughly convinced. That is so much bull*, they must've looted someones cattle farm. There is no way that's legit.

please read the posts before this.
the only reason i posted this was because
1. it has been trending in some of the more serious game news sites
2. there is sufficient history that the man who first hinted at this is usually right
3. the man who hinted works very close to the pokemon universe

there is enough credibilitiy and sites backing up the rumor that it's achieved a status of plausible.

also was magnemite not changed into a steel type after that type introduction?
i don't see the world ending yet.

change is change and this will only affect a small portion of currently existing pokemon

also Normal has been the place where a lot of possible 'untyped' pokemon were placed because there wasnt an accurate type for them. change is okay

I am personally against new types and will agree that the types are unlikely to be restructured for many of the same reasons as Renton mentioned.
Atleast not in main games...Mods are fun to have new types in(pokemon Brown) but I am 100% against fairy type...that is just kinda silly....I mean I can understand Light because it is the opposite of dark and It is a major element(I have always thought of Psychic as the light type...) or Sound which doesn't really have a comparable type(I support sound type the most) Pokemon Brown also had the wind type which was basically a special focused flying type.
All three of those I would be fine with(or atleast accept with only a day or so of denial) but fairy.....NOOOOOOOOOO
