Maily making this thread for me and Tish but anyone feel free to comment for those of you working stiffs on these forums.
So share your stories about on the job experiences ( Or even things you've witnessed ) Dealing with Customers, co workers etc. in a position where you are forced to deal with the public be it customer service, on the phone phone, working fast food or as a cashier etc.
I'll start
For those curious I have 2 Jobs.
Job # 1- I Work for our local Transit Authority
( Explanations on Public/Mass Transit can be found Here <-- Link Or Here or Simply type it into the search Engine of your choice)
Anyway my job there is what's called a checker. Sadly due to many cutbacks this position is slowly being phased out but as such I've taken on a variety of duties & tasks when need be. Primarily though my duties include:
PR Duty - When there is an event or major service disruption assisting in notifying the public via actual in person outreach ( its less complicated then it sounds )
Ride observations - This can include but not be limited to counting ridership totals via actual riding, Observing on duty employees to ensure protocol and rules are being followed etc
On The Spot training - This is only training in minor areas of operating procedures, or as needed when no one is available or company policy limits the ability for full training to take place or assistance is needed in a pinch training drivers on a route he or she may not know or assistance navigating a detour.
Believe it or not there is A LOT Of customer/Public interactions on this job.
Job#2 - Self Employment -Contracted
My 2nd Gig is when our Transit's Main Customer Service line is closed I run and operate an after hours customer service line all by my lonesome >.<
This means LOTS Of interaction from/with the public -_-
