What I expected to happen:
To be pushed back a space and cry like a baby because I can't figure out the puzzle.
What actually happened:
After doing the steps below I was able to bypass the Ruins of Alph Puzzles and reach the old man and 8 lvl 40 "Unown".
Steps to reproduce:
1. Move to the Ruins of Alph main area with the doors that say "A Magical Force Pushes you back"
2. As soon as you step onto the right tile in the small alcove, first person, look to the tile to your left (or vice versa), if done correctly you should phase into the wall and be able to bypass whatever barrier was there.
It is a bug, but honestly I'd leave it in because I could NOT whatsoever figure out the "unique" puzzle that didn't match the original or remakes puzzles.
Sidenote, The first time I ever played P3D I glitched the choosing a poke with Elm so that I'd be stuck where the assistant was, by doing the same thing.
Having a free cam and a non-cinematic "move back one space" does not work together that well.
