I don't think there's anything you can do about it other than playing and saving Locally.

Yeah, it's the GameJolt servers (or the connection between your computer and those servers) that close the session when your computer doesn't send pings to them anymore. This happens when either the servers are down or your computer is not connected to either the internet or those servers specifically.

It happened to me a few times before i realized it was my downloads stopping me from saving.
