Hmmm... you could just make another level to it. so it apart of the same map istead of making 3 diffirent maps.
i considered that but it will be hard to do with current assets and blocks. maybe a series of tiny wall blocks? can they be stepped up on? I would rather get the geometry done for the 2nd floor with placeholder steps for now. the area can't be done until a lot of other things happen that are out of our control

ideally we'd do what hg/ss does, a bunch of tall ladders you move onto instead of stairs, because it fits the wooden temple thing more. the whole map could use a retexture like it had in hg/ss but someones gotta make the textures for that, not going to be me ;)
Lol true. but in Crystal they was wooden stairs. so it doesnt really matter which you do xD. I have yet to play HG and SS but they are remakes arent they? so there shouldnt be that much of a different and the normal basic places.

lol just thought of a good stop gap solution for stairs, i'm just going to put those tiny little stairs in, but they are going in as warp blocks instead. you can use the stairs model by using modelid 2. if you walk into the stairs they warp you. i put the right texture on it too so it isnt the one from the house :)

they are remakes but they prettied everything up. this is sprout tower in hg/ss

(emulated, i'm going to buy it soon, honest!)

Draco, when you are making custom maps, how do you get random pokemon battles? Do you have to keep the name of the map as route29 or the others that have already been added by Nilllzz or do you have your own map names? When i've tried it only seems to work keeping original names not my own.

Random battles takes place usually in grass areas but to edit the pokemons that show up. you need to look into the .poke file that name after the map. it wouldnt be that hard to make random battles in cave using the same method. Just a little diffirent in what appears and where the location is.
Edit:I think I got that right.

I have been editing the poke files but when I have a poke and dat file of the same name I still don't get any random battles.

EDIT: just tried renaming route 29 file and I got random battle. so I may be leaving something out of my map files. thanks Saruish

Are you sure the pokemons your trying to run into exist yet?

I have just been using a copy of the route29 file so yes. I just tried renaming route 29 file and I got random battle. So I may be leaving something out of my map files. Thanks Saruish

Be sure to check very carefull. It should be all under Tall grass but sometimes it not.
Turns out the .poke file need to be in the map folder. The map files them selves don't need to be in the main folder can be in own personal folder in the map folder

if you are putting things in different folders you can put the folder name in before the file name, for example, the violet gym map is in a maps/gyms/ folder while violet.dat is in /maps/. this is the additonal value field of the warp block's tag to enter that gym

poke file need to be in the same place or the /maps/ folder to be found afaik, they need to be the same file name as the map except .poke at the end, as far as i know they only appear in grass, the cave might allow random battles without grass but i havent gone there yet

Hmmm... is heart gold dark cave differently design then crystal dark cave? cause it seem we could go farther then in the current dark cave we have on crystal

the geometry for floor 3 is done now, just gotta do some little texture tweaks and put in the items and npcs. i wanna try and make a ladder out of blocks with no collision and an invisible warp block at the bottom of it so there are ladders. I'll release the maps and textures for before that in the missing content thread before i try that.
