we got all the coders we need but we always need maps done, anyone can do that, we even have an editor now

we're always looking at ways to make modding easier too, so people can do their own pokemon game projects in the engine

what engine you use?i'd like to know and use it too.thanks
the engines purpose built, but it uses the XNA framework (so content like textures etc are compiled into 'xnb' files before use, there are many tools for this).

maps are in a kind of markup language nilllzz made where game objects (entities) are declared as tags. scripts use another little language that he made as well. examples of both are everywhere in the game files. you can make maps with a 3d editor though sort of like a really ghetto unrealed (im still improving it). lots of info on all of this in the discussion/support subforum of maps, mods and mons. feel free to post a thread there if you have questions etc.

the game and editors got a bunch of quirks you'll figure out as you go, but for the most part you just line up a bunch of blocks to make a map. setting up trainers etc is more involved than that but once you have the workflow down its not too bad

oh and a lot of the games data driven, its a bit more rigid than FPS engines in that it only does pokemon games, but when we're done you'll be able to make whatever pokemon game you have dreamed up. p3d is very minecraft looking but the engine itself can do any size textures, and its possible for us to add more complex geometry, we just don't have systems in place for anything but blocks atm.

we're going to make it more data driven as things go on so there may be a lot of bug fixes and missing content fill ins the community can do as things are exposed to external files

XNA is kinda on the way out, i'd use unity, or if you don't mind not having total control over the engine, UDK. XNA is a good framework though
