I like Totodile and all them, but Squirtle has been my favorite starter since... well since red and blue came out lol. Is it still possible to get a hold of them?

What happened to the original starters?

They are no longer available through gameplay, but you can edit your save files to have them.
Go into your "Pokemon\Save\<player name>\Party.dat" file.
You want a line that starts with this.
The number is the national dex number, so 7 is Squirtle. For the other stuff (level, gender, stats), feel free to mess with them.

Thanks mate, that actually helped a lot... It took me about an hour to tweak everything right so I didnt give myself a godly Squirtle lol... and about 20 more minutes to do it right without crashing the game.

when we could put the correct starters in thats what we did. sorry if you like the kanto ones more. perhaps we'll have the free kanto starter after you beat red like hg/ss has so you can get your squirtle legit some day

That would honestly be amazing! but I was just curious and I know the game is still a WIP and I love it, and it is a lot of fun to watch it develop. I just prefer Kanto starters, and being able to code them in will keep me occupied for a long time lol. However I would love to be able to actually catch them as well. It would make having them a lot more meaningful.
