Multiplayer joining server with a hostname

When you try join a server certain keys go to previous menu or just returns you to the game so could you maybe make it that the only way to exit the joining menu is something like escape so if you are entering something like "pokemon" into it the "join" it wont exit. so maybe when in the join menu the only way to leave the menu is the escape button
