Any guesses on where the new region is based on?

Bulbapedia says it is likely France.
I think it's going to be another America region.

if you look at 0:27 you will see the Eiffel tower which is in Paris, France(wish it would have been Chicago but there really is no reason to do that:/)

Does not have to be the Eiffel tower could just as well be the Tokyo tower

So for all we know it could again be some region based in tokyo

That was Kanto(the Kanto region in Japan is the location of Tokyo, Saffron city is supposed to be Tokyo)
the shape of that tower is more widely recognized as the Eiffel tower in Paris
also the buildings give a European feel instead of Japanese. In the older games the houses looked more japanese or were modern looking which are much more overlapping in design

There are plenty of towers with the same structure, some taller than the Eiffel tower, it's just that it is the most well known one. Though I doubt there's many places they would bother to put in a tower like that other than France, or it could be a coincidence, or maybe it won't look like the Eiffel Tower if you get closer.

I'm just saying that since they used the shape it is more likely than not that it will be France(or maybe Europe as a whole?)
I suspect most humans when asked to describe or name a tower shaped like that would describe the Eiffel tower
also the building design in that city looks very much like our Paris
Also at the start of the trailer when Pikachu is sharing the info with the world he is standing on top of a similar tower and appears to be in western Europe. With these points of reference
I see no real reason to choose the Eiffel Tower as the point of origin unless it had something to do with the game.

It could of course be an entirely made up region. The version names are not colors/gems so maybe they changed the method of making their regions as well.

@red - I would believe that if there weren't so many hints towards France.
Also very few people have complained about the regions themselves so why change their pattern?

They never used actual landmarks such as structures in the past though unless it was done in Black/White 1/2. They typically the game region and the real region only share similarities on a map by map comparison but that does not mean that they did not change their methods. Typically I would say that it would be too early to judge, but that tower does bear a strong resemblance to the Eiffel Tower so I think it could very well be France.

Also wanted to point something out with the starters: Grass starters have been based on dinosaurs or prehistoric animals, Fire starters are based on the animals in the Chinese zodiacs, and Water starters are based on semi-aquatic or amphibious animals.

These new Gen VI starters don't quite fit that mold exactly (still need to see their evolutions). The Grass starter Chespin is more of a squirrel than a reptile/dino, the Fire starter Fennekin is a Fox which is not a zodiac, and the Water starter Froakie is a frog which matches the pattern, but I have to say ever since Croagunk and Siesmitoad I don't like seeing more ugly frog pokemon... except Politoad of course.

I'm still wondering how Fennekin can hold its head up with such a tiny neck!

Of course this was going to be a 3DS game guys, I don't think Nintendo would neglect their system any longer. Time to move on. DS has 81 million sales WW and the 3DS has just over 27 million, time to boost it up.

Also this game IS based on France because the designed of the game (which I can't be bothered spelling at the moment) visited France a little while ago.

I think you're right. Liberty Garden is the only based on a real-life monument area I can think of.
