Game Anniversary?

So, here’s the deal:

The Anniversary update is not really “done”.

We kinda finished the story, but we haven’t had time to really test it yet.

The battle system is incomplete, meaning the following things don’t work:

  • PP deduction
  • Moves with IDs over 251
  • Item usuage
  • Switching Pokémon
  • Some minor mechanics
I’d really like to not release the update since it is really incomplete.

But I know that you all waited for this one, so I give you the option to choose:

Do you want to have no update at all or the unfinished version that might contain lots of bugs (You won’t be able to play online with it)?

Again, I am really sorry, but lots of things, especially the battle system and the new maps are some things we have to work very hard for and that take so much time and dedication to finish. We worked on them day & night but that wasn’t enough.

We hope that you can understand this and we do our best to have the complete update done by the end of the month.

I'm a bit torn...I've been wanting to play so badly, but I definitely want to switch pokemon if the time arises. When do you think it'd be done if you chose not to release today?

It is much better to wait, I personally have had a big problem with games bringing out updates this week that are unfinished, causing many problems.

it will be worth the wait, as this is a great game. :)

I am sorry :/ And end of the month pretty much means end of the month. There's LudumDare, I am partially hosting a party with over 1500 people and school started again. Lots of things hindering me to work on the game.

Waiting for it, definately. I don't see a point in releasing the unfinished version and then having people randomly rage because of the bugs. So keeping the update in would spare agonizing raging, plus we get to anticipate the awesomeness even more :D

its better to wait, so calm down folks!
Well, they have been waiting for this update for quite some time, so I kind of understand their feelings, but we noticed there were a lot of game breaking bugs in the new battle system when we tested it. It is pretty much up to the community though if they want a buggy version or wait 1-2 weeks & get a complete update that hopefully has another big feature.

Well the end of the month's not too far away, I'd say just wait then.

nilllzz,

I think that if you rush this update, and you think there will be a lot of bugs in doing so, then the best thing to do is wait and release it when you know that it's stable.

If you release it now instead with lots of bugs, this will flood the forum with bug reports, which means you will have to take more time investigating and fixing those, putting more pressure on you.

I think that everyone feels the same way when I say: Take your time on this update, that way there will be less bugs.

Hey, as long as you keep us informed of your progress, you can take as much time as you need. I rather get a proper update (with the least amount of bugs possible) than a rushed one, even if it is the anniversary update. n.n
