Encountering Shiny Abra. -Panic!- Do I risk it?

Okay! So, Here I am casually trying to catch ditto's trying to get every nature I can possibly get... 15 Ditto's in I encounter a purple breastplated abra, thinking this looked strange... I double checked! Without a doubt I am currently in battle with this Shiny Abra.
- I have Failed to catch it, but feel free to reply and share your experience with bad shinies -

It is my birthday today indeed, i've received gifts from the community. Thank you everyone who has wished me a happy birthday, it helps make you're day.

Might need some help theorycrafting this, I want to get the best possible chance of catching this thing!

My situation is this:

Wild Pokemon:
Abra level 14, "?? speed/nature ??" - *Shiny*. Stats: Base-speed: 90
Moves:
1. Teleport - 100%???

I have these pokeballs:
1x Ultraball
1x Fastball
6x Greatball
14x Pokeball

Active Pokemon:
Mitzi (Hypno) Level 31. *Shiny*
Speed: 54
Moves:
1. Hypnosis - Accuracy 55%
2. Psybeam
3. Fire Punch
4. Thunder Punch

Good Choice's that I have in my party:
1. Morticia (Gengar) level 26.
Speed: 71
Moves:
1. Mean look - accuracy 100%???
2. Hynosis - Accuracy 55%???
3. Shadowball
4. Nightshade - will do 26 damage.

1. Do I just toss The Ultraball, or Fastball?
2. Do I risk a 55% Hypnosis, than throw the ball?
3. Do I risk the switch with Teleport*?
4. Do I risk the Hypnosis than to the switch to the Gengar, therefore proceeding to use meanlook*?
5. Will Hypno outspeed an Abra?????
6. ??????
*Do these work as intended? -Teleport
- Meanlook

I will Postpone my dicision to throw a pokeball at this frightening prospect for awhile.

Well first thing I'd do is take a screenshot, that way even if I'd fail, I could still cherish the moment.
For Abras, I almost always immediately throw my highest Poké Ball at it.
In your case, for Ultra Ball throw at full HP, you have a 52.2% of catching it, they're decent odds, but for a shiny I'm not sure if that's worth it.
Also I think the Fast Ball won't help as Abra's speed isn't high enough.

Exclude the option to switch the moment you do that the Abra will tp . Usually an ultra ball catches the weak pokemon even when they are full hp but not sure if thats the case with shinies. Hypnosis might have a low chance but will buy you time if you land it. Its a tough decidion between those two .

I would go with Hypnosis.

This is my second Shiny encounter in a week, i'm a lucky guy.. but sometimes you can run dry and fall into mud.
I have a feeling 55% on hypnosis would be winning over 52.5% on throwing an ultraball outright, I just wonder how much of an increase it'll be on the chances with capture rate if I indeed put it to sleep, I would say 100% if Meanlook works as intended.

If you switch the Abra will get away . And since we dont know if ultra ball works for shinies as it does for normal pokemon I think Hypnosis has more chance. But its your shinie and you have to make the decidion

I caught my Pink Drowse the other day throwing a regular pokeball outright with full hitpoints after realizing I would knock it out with any of the pokemon I had at the time of encountering it, with the only pokeball I had on me at the time.

So I feel luck is on my side for the Hypnosis method. If I can pull something off like that this time, I have this Abra in the bag! :cigar:

No I mean Abra might be faster than Hypno :D And thats a very bad thing and a possibility since Abras are way faster than Hypnos

I've been wondering that, Hypno is more then twice Abra's current level, although 90 base speed for a stage 1 pokemon like abra is fearsome!

I wonder... Can Hypno's 54 speed beat a level 14 pokemon with an unown nature @ 90 base speed?

Alrighty, ive tried out a few things.
i had several abra between the levels of 10 > 15 (on soul silver version on the emulator), and they do not get close to 50+ speed, so i'm confident i'll outspeed this creature. and Meanlook does indeed work as intended in Pokemon 3D. Therefore I choose to Risk the Hypnosis. But i'll delay it for 5 minutes to see if anyone can suggest anything better.

What would you do?

I indeed moved first, My hypnosis missed :arghh:

Thank you for helping everyone, one cannot be lucky everytime. Frankly it was fairly abizmal luck that it had to be a Shiny Abra.

I don't think I could name a worse Shiny to come across.;)
It's not the end of the world of course, I do have my screenshot for the memories.
