i have the same problem buti can move little bits at a time and sometimes i get good FPS this never happened to me befor the update 22.1 and now it does also when im in menue screens or when i talk to people in the game or go in buildings it goes to normal but when i go out side especiialy in violet city it lags terribly i wnat help with this please
there may be some help in the next update. but we got some ideas on how to make it run a bit faster. unfortunately it involves rewriting the whole movement code, and the end user will probably not notice the change at all, so its a little lower priority than say, getting the story up to another city. i'm going to work on it a bit after i do more work on our tools

The lag occurs in Violet City yes. I even noticed that with offset map on 100, showing Violet city from distance. But turning it off the lag is gone, even in the city.

I wouldn't know about any maps after Violet City because I CANNOT GET THROUGH VIOLET CITY!!! And as I've stated before the maps before it work perfectly fine. no lag, nothing. Even before I bothered to tone the settings down. All of this happened in VIOLET CITY. Idk how many times I have to freakin repeat myself. Also might as well delete this thread because it's pointless and nobody seems to know wth to do to help me. Plus I got rid of the stupid game. Ciao~
You won't be missed. xoxo

I know his pain, and don't think it's right for you to be making fun of him the way you do here, though I don't blame you. Just sayin', I've been in his shoes before. Violet City does have quite a bit of a lag spike, and even I notice it running on my beast of a tower.

I have my settings at
Render Distance : Extreme
Offset map quality : 91
Fancy Graphics

If I turn my offset map quality from 91 to 100, my frames in Violet City instantly go from 40-60 FPS to 2. Now, what I think is a bug is that when I went inside a building, I exit it and yet again yield around 15 FPS average. Even if the game was that intensive on specs, I should always have the 15 FPS, not 2 FPS.

I believe it to be a problem in the graphical coding.. or the way the game visualizes the map while loading all of it's data as well as the other maps around you.. That doesn't seem like your computer spec's best friend.

Just so you know where I'm coming from, I built my computer personally, by hand, and my specs are as thus.
Windows XP SP3
AMD Phenom II 955 Quad Core 3.2ghz
MSI Superpipe OC Geforce GTX 285
4GB DDR3 Ripjaws ram
Native Resolution 1080p display ASUS 27'

I wasn't exactly making fun of them, but pointing out how incredibly rude they were in their own post. You seemed to forgot to quote the parts of their post that were rude. ;) If you can't be patient and try to let the staff figure out what's up and instead choose to CAPS!111 and insult the game (calling it "stupid") and basically act like a complete immature twat, then you're better off gone.

Just saying.

Actually, I only quoted that part on purpose, to make my post shorter as I've done here ^. Sorry if it made you think I was ignoring the rest of his post. I do completely agree with you 100% that there was no reason for his cruse control nor was there any reason to bash the game either. I do feel his frustration, though, and that was the only point I wanted to get across. :)

And yes, I definitely agree that immaturity and being impatient tend to make users such as you or myself not care if they leave. I blame the Diablo III forums in that respect. You can't make a constructive post there without being told to QQ or gtfo. Tough crowd, huh? ;P

thats every game community before all the players come. enjoy the calm before the storm, posters like the OP are going to come in droves later. just wait till we have pvp going haha

i feel everyones pain about the performance issues. i have the biggest case of Works On My Machine with the performance issues but i'm looking into it atm. i know this games got no business running bad with 16x16 textures and simple 3d primitives and sprites etc when the doom engine can do this stuff at a billionty frames a second. i just hope people understand that every engine ran like crap at some point, they don't run bad on release because they went through and optimized everything. natural selection 2 beta 2 years ago was near unplayable but the game performs fine today. i dont want it to take years to get it right, and we are live so we cant afford to have it run bad on some hardware for long.so please, don't worry about it. we're on it

i havent gotten it looking right yet, but i tried drawing grouped entities in a batch, and violet city is running really fast. don't expect a fix by tonight, but friday or next week everyone should see some performance gains.

I never noticed any lag. I did notice a little skip in the map when you enter it but that would just be the map loading and no this is not a stupid game its a work of pokemon art. :D

don't need to defend us :p we are doing far far too many draws to the screen atm. i'm trying to write my own vertex and pixel shader etc to let us batch a bunch of the same block in 1 call. should reduce the draw calls by hundreds, maybe even thousands. when i'm done there should be less problems with frame rates.

nils has found more efficient ways to do some things regarding textures as well, which increased frames in battle by a bunch.

we don't want to leave this running bad, i dont really care if the OP ever tries it after that and enjoys the game but there's no excuses for running bad in 2013 if you game isn't crysis or something
