I have tried adding a new custom pokemon from scratch by copying a existing .dat file changing the pokedex number and name creating new folder in animations with the same name put all animations in place added the correct crie for the pokemon in the end no matter what i tried soon as i opened up my party the game instantly crashed.

also i tried changing route29 .poke file saved my changes loaded up the game and it did not work i encountered the same pokemon as before even though i triple checked the .poke file and restarted the game multiple times it still kept showing the same pokemon. Btw i used your example in the mapping thread for the .poke file.

So any ideas?

pokes have moved to a poke folder it seems
freelancepolice is number 252 and his icon showed up as sceptile in party so maybe just overwrite gen 3 IDs for now. your pokemon might not be finding an icon for them when you open the party

looks like the pokemon icons are in a big sheet called pokemonmenu in pokemon/content/gui. maybe if the number goes too high it runs out of image to read and crashes?

this so has to change, need the icon as like menu.xnb sitting alongside front, back etc

Well that went well "Good job pikachu" lol

Seems the game only crashes when it tries to load the image in the party menu or pokédex and i have to agree that it needs to be changed so that it reads it from the animation folder that should provide flexibility when creating new pokémon.

I also noticed that in the .poke file the first line that previously stated the level range has been removed and has been replaced by the last 2 entries in each seperate line u might want to update your mapping thread to reflect this change DracoHouston.

i cant be bothered atm, sorry. when the editors ready i wanna just make tutorial vids for using it and that should take care of 'how to map', also it should go on the wiki too. i noticed that when i went through this to see if it actually works

ideally people shouldnt have to know the format of a poke file and just work with some window that lets them add pokemon to the poke and set the options

edit: might find the post you're talking about and edit it tomorrow though, i ended up 'resting my eyes' just before and fell asleep for 2 hours so its just not happening right now! haha

lol watched the video, nice
