Now that trading is implemented, I thought a place to organize and negotiate trades might make finding the trade you want a little easier. Darkfire tells me a dedicated trading section is in the works, but until then this thread should hopefully help some people.

I guess I'll start: I'm looking for a Chikorita of any level. I'm offering a Level 12 Cyndiquil named Inferno.

I'll certainly be looking for someone to do a trade and tradeback with once trading based evolutions come out(hopefully next update). With that said, I admit the trading system isn't all that exciting when I know I can just open the text file and create whatever Pokemon I want. I'm also curious if you could just run two instances of the game and trade a Chikorita from a new file into your older one. (Assuming you use two Gamejolt accounts)

Yeah, I admit trading can easily be bypassed. But I like trading with real people, feels way more legit. As for trading with yourself, it seems like if both of your Pokemon 3D instances were logged in to different GameJolt accounts, I think it might work. You could probably even trade with the same instance if you logged in to the other account. In theory, anyway.

I guess by curious I meant you could. With that said, I know they're looking into making the trading system more secure in the next update so that might include disallowing two Gamejolt accounts to use the same IP. I doubt it though, since this could cause issues with people sharing a computer and it would be so easy to circumvent that it wouldn't be worth implementing.

What might be interesting would be to create some system that differentiates between legitimate and "hacked" Pokemon. That way you can see if you're trading for something that's actually real. Like, maybe take a combination of its stats, where it was caught, trainer info, etc and use that to make an MD6(because we're that awesome) hash. Then just have that hash be checked against those stats whenever the game starts to see if it still matches. Then if it doesn't, the hash refuses to update. If it does match, the hash continues to update whenever the stats change in game until it reaches some instance where it no longer matches. That way, people can make whatever Pokemon they want, but they won't be confused with Pokemon that people took the time to train.

Just my two cents.
