unnecessary sound

Is it at all possible to make the game not need to have working sound?
One user has reported problems because his sound card is not working.
It would be convinient if sound could be 100% disabled or have the game still work regardless of if the music is.

you could open the game, it would save an options.dat file. You can disable the music (and the sound with this setting) in the file.
If the game failes to create an options.dat before it crashes for him, you can provide him a blank options.dat and set the music setting to "0".

i dont know why anyone would tolerate having no sound :\ you wouldnt even be able to listen to music or watch youtubes properly :\
