the pokemon folder shouldnt be empty, have you let the launcher download the game?

is it maybe still downloading?
the download screen doesn't show up in the task bar and stays behind other windows etc.
make sure you are downloading

Yes i have and what do i put in the pokemon folder?
the launcher should make a pokemon folder and fill it with game files, and when it is done you start the game and it'll go

you shouldnt have to manually place anything in the pokemon folder, unless you are installing mods

does it give you an error? can you check /pokemon/log.dat (open with a text editor like notepad) and see if anything is in it? (if you dont have one then there hasnt been an error big enough to go in it yet, dont worry)

other options: USB headsets, they are their own sound device, they don't use the sound card. plugging one of those in and making it the default sound device would give them sound through the headset and let them play
