Can something like creative mode be added into Pokemon 3d. In Creative Mode you can create your own custom battles and explore the maps that you haven't yet reached in your regular game. You can pretty much have whatever party of pokemon that you want and you can walk around without having to deal with wild pokemon constantly popping up!

I would like not having wild pokemon pop up. As for the party pokemon, you can change your party by editing your save file.
I don't think viewing future maps would be terribly good, though. I always thought seeing a new map for the first time was exciting, and being able to see ahead in the game would kind of ruin the surprise of the next map for first time players of Pokemon 3D. I think a creative mode is a good idea, but maybe for a map editor, not as much the actual game.

The custom battles sound pretty cool, though, a great way to test your party's effectiveness as a whole.

that would ruin the concept of the game if you could tailor a party to your wishes.

however. creating custom maps for alternate plots or bonus worlds would be interesting. like someone could create some island maps, and with the Dev's approval, could be coded into the game where you get a speciall S.S. ticket to the island and do the adventures there. It'd be pretty awesome.

something like the Sevii Islands in Fire Red and Leaf Green

Right now EVERYTHING is editable
repel steps are in the save file so just give your self a couple hundred thousand and your set
almost everything can be edited in notepad(though i suggest you download notepad ++(its free))

On the topic of creative mode...

I've been trying to get into building a game map, but I can't seem to find out how. Anyone know where I can find a tutorial on building custom maps?

the game is very heavily data driven, the creative mode is you knuckling down and making content

there's no one place to look but try looking around the discussion/support forum in the modding section at the bottom of the forum index. i made a map editor http://pokemon3d.net/wiki/index.php?title=Pokéditor but you really wanna figure out how the map format works so you can make adjustments and fix things up

To tell the truth even though everything is pretty easily editable in the files it would still be nice to have a creative modeish option. I would prefer calling it "developement mode" or Dev Mode for short. Somewhat editing pokemons, quickly teleporting through areas, re-enabling fights and forcing custom pokemon encounters would be cool to have in.

Just wondering: are you planning to make other versions of the Pokéditor in the future?

Oh, I was wondering about the map editor, but it's still cool that you guys are taking the effort to remake all the maps from Pokemon

i'm going to put in a 'sandbox mode' for modders that launches a map, puts you at a position you set, and uses a special save game you can edit in the scripts folder, with some dev mode stuff enabled like walking through stuff and moving your camera around. this will only be a quick way to test content you have made, in this mode it won't have multiplayer and you can only mess around or quit, no going to main menu. this is because it'll go around the launcher lock. i'm not making some fancy play around thing for people who aren't modding though, but it'll let people play around with save editing when we lock those down the line

something i want to put in eventually, if nils lets me, is the ability to play a pokemon game on the wii in your room that lets you set up a mock battle with rentals like pokemon stadium. i'm not starting on anything like that till pvp is in and a lot of that code can be reused for it
