If you could Start the Game with any Pokemon who would it be?

Ralts may only know growl at first, but quickly learns confusion at lv 6. plus it can be taught shockwave and thunderbolt through a tm, and double team makes it harder to hit. My only weakness is a super fast Dark-type pokemon like Umbreon, which is covered by Shockwave/Thunderbolt.

Hmm i stand corrected didnt know that he was a good early choice? never had a reason to use him just lvled up to slowly for me it felt.. guess he is relly popular. BTW if you played FRLG what was the team you used to beat the game? mine was= Arcinine,Dragonite= would buy it with coins,Blastoise, Nidoking, Pigeot, Kangiskan

They are difficult, but mega powerful.

actually in gen 1\remakes
Venusaur=easy mode
Blastoise=average mode
Charizard=hard mode
Venusaur has type bonus on 4/8 of the gyms(3;Blastoise, 1;Charizard) and resists another(1;Blastoise, 2;Charizard)
and the only gyms it might have trouble with
are all later in the game(gyms 5-7)
it is a bit less helpful in the Elite four
but by then you are either:
A) solo running and have gotten used to it
B) have a very strong team to cover all the weaknesses of Venusaur

Charizard users on the other hand will struggle early in the game and again hit snags in the e4
3 gyms resist it(2; Venusaur, 2;blastoise) and it is weak to the first 2 gyms and will be next to useless in the final gym(weak to: 1;Venusaur, 2;Blastoise)
e4 wise charizard will not have the difficulties with Agatha Venusaur has but other than that it is mostly on the same footing

how personally I really like charizard and, as a rule, don't like grass type starters
so even though I just gave a very fierce defense of Venusaur over charizard....my personal pick for team mates is:
Charizard(If you don't know I like this awesome fire/shouldabeendragonbutdragonwastoOPforastartersoitgotflyinginstead beast, then you must not look at profile pictures)
random grass type to be disposed of after gym 2(or pikachu)
Lapras
Snorlax
Jolteon
Rhydon
and(assuming i can trade) Alakazam

So not too far off from me, relatively the same type adv. and dis adv. We both agree that Charizard is a dragon, but disagree on the grass type starter rule. I was always the kid who got his pokemon handed to him on a silver flaming platter, because everyone always took charizard, or quilava; or torchic. So I always had to be tactical. I got mad respect for bulbasaur and chickorita, nuff said.

Venusaur, Snorlax, and Zapdos mainly. Also Articuno and Zapdos a little (mainly just to get through the E4)
