Implemented Running

Instead of just walking at the same speed all of the time, can running be added to the game. To run, all the player would have to do is double tap the W button. I think it would make the game go so much faster and it would also be much more like the original pokemon games!

I think it will be added in the game later, with Running Shoes. But they would've had to change the movement set up first.

Considered (I think), the Running Shoes are in the original games since III Generation.

Remember that pokemon G/S/C gameworld is so much smaller than gen 3+, and thus if you were to add running shoes it would be like you were riding a bike & for that reason, I doubt it will be added, but who knows.

Remember that pokemon G/S/C gameworld is so much smaller than gen 3+, and thus if you were to add running shoes it would be like you were riding a bike & for that reason, I doubt it will be added, but who knows.

did you play the gen 4 remakes? thats literally what they did, and the bike was twice as fast, it owned. also AFAIK theres a mechanic where if you are running you have a higher chance to encounter pokemon, and if you are riding it is even higher, some NPCs advise you to tread carefully through the grass if you want to avoid wild pokemon.

IIRC so along with followers mechanic you had
walking
-less wild encounters
-gain friendship with first pokemon in party

running
-move faster
-more wild encounters
-still gain friendship

riding
-very fast
-way more encounters
-no friendship gain

which is kinda neat

not really, just got to up the move speed and you have running shoes, same with bike, the problem is making them display nice

running shoes could be about 160% current speed and bike could be 220% current speed or something, just pulling numbers out of my arse here, the speeds would probably need some tweaking to make sure they feel right.

since we are talking about running shoes, does this sound reasonable?
-some key to toggle always walk/always run
-hold shift to run/walk, depending on what mode you're on, so on always run it becomes a sneak key, on always work its your sprint

nah the world of HGSS is exactly the same
It works perfectly fine
as long as there is the option to turn it on and leave it on without holding the button(so pissed when that wasn't in gen 5) I will be a happy person

It is, you see, It takes twice as long in HG/SS to walk through Goldenrod as in G/S/C

changing one city's layout doesn't make the world twice as big, all the routes are the same layout and size
