Perhaps make all the "hidden" items players find on the ground random spawns as the player enters the area, that way the player will always have a chance to come across an item laying on the ground rather than just going through the game picking up all said items and then not having anything to search for or come across while your out adventuring

Will they refresh over time, if we had this? So for example you encountered a potion in one route, and came back a few days real time later and found another potion there.
Incidentally, I think the lore for dropped items is that its from pokemon trainers flying overhead on their pokemon, and they drop stuff. In that regard, we're all thieves :)

It would probably be easier to make it that way but I was talking about items spawning randomly in each area in a random spot in said area. That way the players will always have something to look for (cause ive noticed with the "3d" the hidden items are really hard to spot unless you know their there), The few day spawn rate after you find one is a good idea though cause it would keep players from simply moving back and forth between maps and forcing the items to spawn.

I do recall a place in pokemon versions FireRed and LeafGreen called treasure island: hidden items would "wash up" over time, allowing the player to continually collect them while playing. Generations after, I believe I noticed they incorporated this same tendency with select places in future generations (and not just beaches).

--It would be nice to have a little hunting area, maybe even in the National Park north of golden rod, or on the beach by Olivine city.

I like this idea, but I think the items should be random when they respawn (The original items would always start the same), and is possibly appear in different parts of the route, to help deter farming a little.

You make a point.. But then It would be a bit odd to constantly search for item hot spots..
I guess the question I have is : To farm or Not to farm? That is the question!

Whether Tis nobler to find items on the road, a rare gift from a negligent traveler; Or, to wander the beach for hopes that the sea will yield up some treasure, We can both agree on this idea: to have an outlet for items not bought in stores.
--My apologies in advanced for making this.. It started out so innocent..

--Would we consider it farming? I am wondering what would the outcomes be..:bookworm:

If people could "farm": we could limit the roll over time for new items to spawn in.
If items were lost "everywhere": would we have to select special areas for them to be found?
What are the limits of both these ideas?
The reaction of the player itself is also considered: people who occasionally hunt for treasure vs those who are hoarders (like myself who have a tendency to use the item finder when I miss even 1 hidden item).
Or perhaps I am over thinking this..:sorry:

Hmm could the Item Detector Item be added? Like how it would beep faster/slower/not at all Depending on if there was an item close by and how close it is to the player, This could be hard to add though
