Quick Question About Stats and EV's.

Hi, I was wondering if the stats in the game worked like in the second generation, as in you aren't limited to 510 EV's and 255 per stat. I'm curious because the moves seem to work like in Gen IV and above (physical and special moves not attributed to one type). Also, whatever the answer is, will it stay this was or is this just a temporary mechanism until a future version puts everything together?

the mechanisms are all up to or are going to be up to gen 5 standards
