The Most Unexpected Pokemon Encounter?

While playing the games you encounter some Pokemon at very unexpected moments.
What has surprised you the most?

For me it is the Shiny Gyarados in Lake of Rage, I dodn't even know shiny Pokemon existed!

I was surprised at the Lapas in Union Cave too. I played the game for the first time on a Friday so I was lucky

I think it was while playing Sapphire. I was just Derpin arround a bit and trained my pokemon when suddenly Latias appeared. By then i din´t even know that there was a roaming pokemon in the Game

Playing Crystal, found one of the roaming dogs, tried to kill it. Got roared away.

When playing Heart Gold for the first time, I had reached the burned tower and the legendary dogs ran away. I decided right after to train outside the city, first encounter: Raikou. I just stared at the screen.

For me it was Groudon in my first play-through of Pokémon Emerald. I didn't even know you could get him. I was just exploring the cave looking for new Pokémon and BAM! A freaking Legendary just waiting for me! I was so surprised I used my master ball.

When playing Pokemon Ruby the first time through, encountering Latios surprised me. I was unaware of roaming Pokemon. Seeing a shiny for the first time also surprised me.

I'd have to say when my cousin taught me how to use the missingno cheat when I was a kid. By mistake, I used my master ball on a Marowak. When I told her that I did this she was all okay, let me get you another one. So she traded me over one, and then showed me how to use the old man glitch to get more whenever I needed them. My mind was first blown by the weird glitch pokemon, and then by the realization that I could cheat. Good times.

Playing through Pokemon Emerald one day, Going under the cycle lane, Wild shiny Electrike.

...

No pokeballs. I cried that day.

Playing Silver, looking for a Ditto next to the daycare south of Goldenrod City. I'd never even heard of the roaming beasts, nor did I care. I needed to find a Ditto. Suddenly a very large, scary fiery dog creature shows up. I decide that this would be worth catching, looking cool and being Level 40. It ran. Didn't see it again for three days. Found my ditto though.

The day my Dratini evolved into Dragonair.
I cried tears of joy, I had a party to celebrate.
....
Next day brother released it into the wild.
I was LIVID.
Now I don't have a Dragonair OR a brother.

In HG/SS, i was trying to EV train my Eevee, and encoutered an entei for the first time, i was like 'WHAT!?!?!'

When I was in Ice Path, I stumbled upon a shiny golbat. It's now an awesome pink and green crobat

In Heart Gold, leveling outside Silver mountain, then suddenly, shiny Ponyta. One quick ball and I got it

I was moseying around Mt. Silver, and I ran into a male Shiny Ponyta. Caught it with an ultra ball. Kept walking along, and the next pokemon I found was ANOTHER Shiny Ponyta, female. Caught this one, too! I had a feeling my game glitched or something, so I walked around a little more, and no more shinies. I was just really lucky... Twice.​
