Advertiser Attackers

This may not be a proper thread place to talk about, but i can guess theres an error in the web security?
in any thread tab, we've been receiving unnecessary Advertisers/Marketers posting about thier products in our community.

I dont know how harmful or how beneficial it is for them to be here, but they should not be here in any circumstances unless made a proper Advertisement within the Website. such as a Clickable Ad or anything for that matter.

of course i can guess you guys keep seeing my "Go Die In A Bonfire" Attack on those Ads, I wil keep doing so and try to report as many advertisers as much as possible.

so increase the Website Security or build in a Clickable Advertisement.

There is no difference between ad posts and real posts, how can a security system distinguish between them?
Advertising is not allowed in any way AFAIK, which is why we insta-ban them.
as for replying, when you do that, you bump the thread up, you don't really help in anyway by doing that, the spammers come to the forum, post the thread and leave after, they don't stay to read your or anyone's replies.
I'm sure as you have noticed by now, the accounts get banned on the spot or as soon as a moderator who is able to do so is online.
So you don't really need to report or reply. :p

Actually every advertisment have a unique trend.

It always send a link to a website that is common for advertisment. I have encounter it myself before simply by making a website and make it visible in google and advertisment shall come.

How if the system is made such a way that for the first post made in the forum have to be approve by a mod first, then it won't ever appear in public.
Or even block the common advertisment website to reduce the advertisment.

Imo, that will do more harm than good

I ban at least 20 accounts everyday, and those are just the ones that "I" ban. almost everyone of them links to a different website but they look similar.

See all those spam accounts? that's only in the last couple of hours and not a single one of them posted a thread but they still advertise.

Well this website is too popular and easy to invade with advertisment with a click of a button.
Indeed there must be some form of measures to reduce it. I am sure there is a way. It won't be impossible.

This thread is in the "website feedback" section now.
I suggest (if it is possible) to auto-ban and auto-clean accounts that post links from these sites in threads, their status updates and in their account information:

I know how all you guys feel, but there isn't much we can do, even though we have some measures to counter spam bots, (i.e Captha) but there are programs that can bypass this and still allow bots to get in. It is annoying, but it isn't really causing any problems. If there were a certain way to stop bots, I'm pretty sure the other staff would have seen to that option. All you can do is ignore them and let the staff handle them. It's causing me some trouble too, but that's kinda the point of staff.

right, but for now if anyone sees a Ad, just report and not post a reply as you say Fanta.
lets see how everything plays out by then.

You don't even need to report them, we can see all of them on our news feed, we've been cleaning them for as long as I can remember, and you can tell that we are taking action by the fact that not a single one of them is still in the forum.

To be honest with you Shou, moderators like Fanta and myself come on regularly, so there isn't a need to report an ad. Like what Fanta said, it appears on the news feed, so we can get to it pretty much intantly. We appreciate what you guys as part of the community are doing.

If you report it we then alos have to clear the report which makes the whole process alot longer
also Daniel has and continues to look for better ways to check people
the amount of new posts isnt the real problem since there ate like <15 per night(night my time I mean) so not that big of an issue and we keep track of it
the real problem is the non posting bots and those are hard to stop without making it impossible to join the site(which is why the wiki is locked....)
so yeah this is complicated

Usually if the bot doesn't post anything, they more than likely set their homepage to an ad. But if that's not the case, then how they spell their profile gives it away, they use a typical name, two words, without proper capitalization. And they never set a profile picture. Not only that, their name and gender hardly match, like a girl named David...

I mean we can know those trends but we cant just set up an auto ban for those unless we get more identifiers that can be detected easily and are 100% fool proof

Well, these bots use programs to bypass the Captha, so perhaps there is a program that detects this and applies an auto-ban.
