Is it worth it to play online as a new trainer?

Recently, I've been thinking about playing online. I do notice that you have to restart (losing my 19hrs of progress :dead:)
...but the advantage of this was that I can trade to get the pokemon I want, required to trade for evolution (like kingdra/scizor)
...so why not?

The thing that got me regretting the choice is the horrible scenario of me stumbling in to a hidden grotto and finding a gabite...and I caught it.
Also, i'm going to lose everything else I worked pretty hard for, like all of those safari zone pokemon I spent a while on. Especially you, scyther >.>, and all those 1% encounter pokemon.

I'm not going to play offline until I can make a decision, else I will make good progress I will regret losing.
P.S.-I have all 8 jhoto badges but not the elite four wins.

Well, people have played for hundreds of hours on their online saves, playing offline is boring...
Online exclusive features like : PVP/battlespot/trading (including direct/GTS and wondertrading)/adding friends/chatting with other players/achievements/Global rankings....and the fact that your save is stored on the clouds.

also, the only way to get some pokemon in the game on an offline save is via cheating, but online, you can get them by trading with other players.

Btw, you can evolve your "trade-only" pokemon in offline save, but only via editing your save file.

I personally managed to lose my entire offline save: a save that had reached the Lake of Rage, and I had carefully trained all pokemon to at least level 50. I felt that starting an online save was worth it.

Direct Trades via offline save servers work(offline to offline only) so you CAN trade evolve there
but yeah Online saves are the way to go unless you want to edit the game with stuff etc

Yeaa, but you still need a server that supports offline accounts, so you will have to either make one, or find one that supports that (which are really rare)

I suggest you get online. playing alone is boring. and 19 hours of progress isn't actually that much . While playing on online you can trade with people on the server and as k for help or make new friends. i made a bunch

playing online also allows you to see "[user] is now online/offline" spam from people who have bad connections but wont give up.

also the gts is great if you have lvl 100 mewtwos and are looking for level 2 caterpies :p
