I also get my news from Serebii. I also use it to find out where Pokemon spawn and the chance rate they appear.
I use Bulbapedia for general stuff though.
I don't like looking at serebii when new generations are coming out. A lot of the time it ruins the surprises of the game. When i was younger I would anticipate a Pokemon to evolve, but know the internet ruins the level of evolution. It annoys me :(

I forgot about Bulbapedia, I love all the extra info and Trivia that are at the end of the page.

I also use Smogon to build up a professional team around EV Training.

Could you PM me or make a thread explaining what IV's and EV's are and how you EV train?I always here people talking about it but I don't have any idea what it is.

I could briefly explain it here.

When you defeat a Pokemon, it gives your Pokemon EXP and EV's. The EV (Effort Value) depends on the strength of that Pokemon such as defeating a Rattata would give you 1 Speed EV or some Pokemon give you multiple EV's from beating that Pokemon.

Now, when you get 4 EV's of a certain type (such as Speed), when you next level up you might notice your Pokemon get an extra +1 in their Speed stat. So if the Pokemon I was training got 200 Speed EV's and then leveled it up, you could potentially see their Speed stat go +50 in one level up but it's usually spread out to levels 50 and 100.

There is a limit though, a Pokemon can only have 255 EV's in a stat so that means a max gain in a stat of 63. But 255 isn't dividable by 4 so the maximum effect you could have is 252 EV's. Also your Pokemon can only have a maximum of 510 EV's total so basically you could have two stats have 252 EV's each and then one stat with 4 EV's.

It can get pretty complicated but once you have done your research on websites and YouTube videos, it becomes a lot easier.

An IV is the Pokemon's Individual Values that affect it's stats. You know how if you went and caught say, 2 level 15 Pidgeys, there is a high chance that their stats would be different. It's hard to explain this concept but the IV goes from 1-31 and affects how high or low a Pokemon's stat is. You generally want a Pokemon to have good IV's above 20.

Now the only problem with this is that IV's and EV's are invisible. You cannot see what the values are. There are some people in the Pokemon games that tell you what your highest IV value is or if you have maxed out your EV's (they won't use these terms of course) and requires you to use IV Calculators and such but I think I have explained the most of it now.

This wasn't very brief at all :L

So is the best way to build up a strong team to breed them so they are level 1 and EV train them from there? Also will an EXP share mess it up?

Level 1 is the best way but you can also clear a Pokemon's EV's using certain berries. I can't remember at the moment but they are the ones that say they lower a stat but make your Pokemon more happy.

If a Pokemon recieves EXP, it gets EV's. It doesn't split between the two Pokemon, they just bother get the same EV's.

Bulbapedia (especially for finding the precise location and encounter rates of Pokemans) and this one.
