i found out last night why you need the launcher, the game is actually locked. the arguments change with time, the launcher and the game both know what the valid argument is. you can see what the argument looks like by replacing pokemon.exe with a program that echos the arguments to the console, but it won't help you much, it changes all the time. please just use the launcher to launch the game
