Don't forget the possibility of having all the regions implemented so it is actually possible to catch almost every single Pokemon.(starters would still have to be traded in to complete the Pokedex, but the point is that all Pokemon would be able to be caught legitimately.
I love the idea of all pokemon being obtainable, and all the regions being implemented. But after the second region most of your pokemon would be close to level 100. So there would need to be a system where you leave your pokemon behind and start fresh or something.
I'm too lazy to actually go find the thread that we were talking about this in, but it would most likely involve requiring the gym badges from that region for pokemon of certain levels to obey you.

Of course, you could also make it where the player can't bring in their Pokemon from another region until they've gotten all the badges from that region.

WELL, (anime) Ash had to leave all the insignia at the front desk of the championship...
(game) without the insignia Pokemons ( at level "x") don't obey you...
so what if:
......if you go to another continent, you should leave behind the insignias, or the insígneas could only be accepted in their respective continent (forcing you to collect new insignia, 'coz pokemon won't obey you in the new continent).

But ash has pikachu throughout the entire series. According to game logic it would be level 100 by now, and if these insignia mean higher level pokemon don't obey. Why does it obey him without question?

I am thinking that IF we officially support multiple regions in the same game we should add a region tag to the pokemon save files that can then be used to detect if you should be able to use the pokemon

Ah, so the famed Radio Tower Takeover update is going to be released soon? That was actually my most favorite part of the game. It was interesting to go undercover and all that.

actually ash's pikachu is not pokemon, it's a cursed human turned into a pokémon form (pokémon mystery dungeon: mode on) [and that's why pikachu doesn't like to stay in the pokéball]
it's 2am here in Brazil, and i can't think on nothing better than this!!! :p

Or perhaps (like in the anime) you just leave all your Pokemon, and start fresh with a new starter Pokemon, and then eventually after you complete the Pokemon League for each respective region, you're allowed to have all the Pokemon from the other regions returned to you.

That wouldn't be so bad.

Plus, I have always wondered how Castelia City would look like in 3D ;)

So if each region were done does that mean that each region would have its own Elite 4 as well? Also we already know Kanto is part of the plot for Gold and Silver I just wonder how we would fit the others into the plot as well. I honestly think that Black and White 2 plot should be skipped since doing the same region twice over with only minor tweaks is just bland unless you combine the two like only certain key events.
