When did I ever say that you dont know anything about Pokemon? Also playing a game for 8 years doesnt make you a prodigy and also showing of with a lvl 93 Pokemon just puts a huge negative on your side of the argument.
I just said how long, just because it was relvent. By the way, the reason I never had a level 100, is because I always restart when I get mostly everything, and I only remember my Fire Red team, because it was the most recent.
Still if someone is new to the game it is easier for said person to get into the game and online mode therefor making it fairer to new players.

To be honest, I miss Pokemon when it was more about fun and choosing your favorites. I know general things about battling, what stats mean etc., but I can't say I'm one to get super involved when it comes to strategy and setting up the "perfect team". I have fun, and do what I want.

If people like to be more competitive then cool, but personally, I feel like Pokemon shouldn't be something that's overly-competitive, which is what it has become. I've never heard of Smogon until now, but it seems to feed that competitive streak that's rampant in Pokemon now, especially since battling has been made more complicated over the last couple of Gens. I don't like people telling me how to play or patronizing me for how I do play, as elitism in games is something that annoys the shit out of me.
Exactly this. Best way to describe it in my opinion.

I feel that Smogon has actually supported the 'use your favorites' mentality. The tiers are designed so every pokemon can be used, and not be totally outclassed by the Ubers/Overused. The Little Cup even allows the baby pokemon a place within the game.

Im sorry but the game was built to be competitive so if you want to have fun with the non competitive part just stay offline.

Not at first, no. I'll have to disagree

And I'd appreciate you not telling me what to do, thanks.
Yeah but at first there was no Internet on handhelds and the game was a broken mess.
Sending in and taking back Pokemon into their Pokeballs is not very competitive.

As I said before, this "competitive" way of it just makes people forget about the first lesson Oak gives in the game. Pokemon are friends and not tools of war. In the end people "trainers" become very selective of the Pokemon they want, because they want to be "competitive" There are two things people would do. They would either catch/ breed Pokemon or RNG Pokemon for perfect IVs.

Yeah, I really hate having to breed and discard hundreds of pokemon just to breed one with good IVs. I wish they had never added IVs, but only relied on EVs to differentiate otherwise identical pokemon. That way any pokemon caught/bred (of the same species) would have the same potential.

Discarding flawed pokemon actually defeats the entire point of the BW1 and 2 storyline.

Thats cute ,but you know the thing is POKEMON ARE NOT REAL. Also the game is built arround becoming the best Pokemon trainer by beating the s**t out of other peoples Pokemon and it was just taken online and people figured out tactics. Is it really that horrifying?

P.S.: Prof. Oak didnt even know how Pokemon Eggs work hes an idiot

I just play with my favourites. I cover their type disadvantages with counter moves (eg; fire type covers with solarbeam, water with ground/ice...) and just have fun. I don't really venture online and just play with local friends.
In regards to Smogon, while I agree that for competative battling it's helped with being able to use any pokemon effectively within certain rankings/tiers (as mentioned, little cup = non-evolved only) there are problems with the obsessive IV/EV training. I tend to just ignore it all and train them without a care. I didn't even know about the stuff till BW1/2 anyway :)

We all know Pokemon aren't real, but we all grew up with it.
"Competitive" battling is also boring as heck! Switching out on every turn, knowing what move set your opponent has. Stealth Rock this, Spikes that.

You could just beat the @GinkgoPete out of everybody if everybody fought with what they had and didn't go apeGinkgoPete with IVs. Remember playing your friends as a kid? Weren't those battles much better than switching out Pokemon for like 3 hours? Did you even had friends as a kid?

P.S.: If you're going to make fun of a character that made this the best Nintendo game, and the first badge of games why the heck be a part of it?

Calm your tits Ginkgo. I've noticed that your posts across this forum have come across as arrogant and hostile. I think we're all here for our love of Pokemon. All I said before with my own opinion, is that I don't prefer super-competitive battling and I that I just play with my favorites.

If people prefer competitive battling, then cool! Everyone has a preference. I think truly, neither way is bad, it's whatever makes you happier.

@GinkoPete

If you're too smart for this forum, you might as well head out.
You're being a really arrogant prick since your first post on this thread.
